In 2015 Masifunde had partnered-up with the Cape Town-based Center for Justice and Crime Prevention (CJCP) in order to develop a holistic crime and violence prevention programme. All interventions of the project were based on the needs of the community of Walmer Township identified through an extensive baseline study which was conducted in 2015.
All of Umhlali's nine programme components were aiming at increasing resilience of the youth of Walmer, to eventually decrease crime and violence within the community.
The programme closed in June 2019. We are very grateful for the support we received from CJCP, the Human Dignity Foundation and Comic Relief, as well as various stakeholders and the community of Walmer Township.
