about us
masifunde — meaning “Let us learn” in isiXhosa — is a non-profit organisation based in Walmer Township, Gqeberha. Since 2004, we have empowered children and youth through holistic education, personal development, and community support.

At the heart of our work is the changemaker model — an educational and social support framework that empowers individuals, strengthens families, and inspires positive change in communities. It combines academic support, life skills, creative arts, social assistance, and pathways into further education and employment. Beyond the individual, it builds resilient families and activates young people as changemakers in their schools and neighbourhoods.
We accompany learners from age 3 to 35 on their journeys — from early childhood education to school support, vocational training, and youth entrepreneurship.

Alongside our local work, we collaborate with schools, NGOs, and partners across South Africa and abroad to replicate proven programmes and share knowledge.
